My Latest Scrappin' Happy workshop

These 4 layouts only take about 2 hours to make them all up! I get the pages all set up then add pictures, embellishments, and distressing.

This set is from our Aspen paper pack. I started with an 11 x 10 of the snowflake paper and a 4 x 12 strip of Twilight cardstock. The cardstock goes against the right side of the left-hand page and the snowflake paper is centered over it. I started the same way on the right-hand page, with a 4 x 12 strip of plaid paper against the left edge. But on this page, I cut my snowflake paper instead of wasting a lot of it. My twilight strip in the middle was 4 x 8 and the two snowflake strips are both 3 x 8. They just LOOK like they are all the same piece.
On this layout, I used the light brown snowflake paper as my bases. This layout is super simple! Aside from the strips and mattes, I just used 1 full piece of plaid paper. I cut a 4 x 12 strip and put it all the way to the right. The rest of it I put all the way to the left. Voila - simpe layout! At my workshop, we go ahead and cut all the extra pieces using the patterns from the Imagine book.
Another easy layout with the dark blue snowflakes as the base. I used a Cherish pattern to start, but changed quite a lot of it by the time I was done. Basically, the bottom half of the right-hand page and the bamboo square of the left-hand page are all 6 x 6 squares. The rest of the right-hand layout is made up of a 1 1/2 strip and a 4 1/2 inch strip of the coordinating B&Ts (background and texture papers)
This last layout was my favorite! I used the outdoor denim paper with the trees on it as the bases. On this I put a 3-inch strip on the right side of the left hand page and two 4 x 8 strips on the right-hand page. One went at the left-bottom corner, vertically, and the other went horizontally at the top-right corner. I also added Outdoor Denim cardstock mattes and strips to complete the double layout.
I can't wait to get my pictures and decorations on these. They are going to be perfect with the pictures I took of the February record-making snow here in North Texas!

I wanted to share these layouts. They were so simple to make.

10 Things

Okay, the name of this layout in Imagine does say something about 10 things, but I only used 8. It's an easy layout to pull off and perfect when you have a collection of pictures that don't really go together.

In my layout, I took some of my favorite pictures of my son during his senior year as one of the final pages in his album for graduation. This ended up being a mix of those favs and a couple of others where I didn't have enough of one even to make a whole layout with it.

Such was the case with the picture of the group at the bottom of the left page. That was an even when the seniors from our coop went to "Orphan Soles," a charity group that distributes free shoes to needy people. The group spent the day sorting and organizing the shoes by size and type, and boxing and shipping them. They had a great time, but I only got a handful of pictures and only 1 with my son in it. The same thing happened at his football banquet, but I just couldn't pass up getting some pictures with his coach into his book.

Last, but not least, were the 2 pics I took of him before his Hillbilly night party at youth group! What a hoot!

Monday Momentum

This is a sample from one of my Scrappin' Happy workshops. We spend only a couple of hours creating these layouts and it makes for SUPER-EASY scrap-booking when you're ready to add pictures and embellishments.

This workshop is always different and ALWAYS FREE if you bring your own Close to My Heart "My Reflections" paper packet and

card stock bases. Each participant should also bring what I call a “Basic Kit” which consists of a 12” paper trimmer, adhesive, pencil, ruler, and scissors. A stylus, distressing kit or sand paper, paper piercing tool, corner rounder, and
coordinating stamp pads are also very useful.

This gets the biggest part of the scrap-booking process done, giving you 4 or 5 double layouts ready for pictures! Below, you'll see the final result from one of these great workshops.

Friday Flair

I think I mentioned in an earlier blog how I offer a workshop every month for my customers. The thing they want most is to get a chance to use the things that they have purchased and I give them that opportunity with my "Scrappin' Happy" workshops. I love these! We make up 8 to 10 layouts in no time and they are ready for pictures, titles and journaling. Oh and (YIKES!) embellishments.

Here is the latest layout that I completed. I'm really pleased I finished the journaling (in the pocket), set up the titles (instead of just jotting down my title plan on a sticky note!) and added suitable embellishments. (I'm wondering if you can tell that I'm one of those people who gets an idea and starts a project and then boxes it up to finish later - another bad habit I'm working on!)

Actually, the pages are flip flopped in my book, creating a "mountain" in the center of the double and putting the green borders along the outside edges. I added a "Just Blooms" 3-inch blossom from the "Pinks" package and used some vellum paper tags for my girls' initials hanging from the polka dot grossgrain ribbon in the "Blush Ribbon Round" collection. This was the first time I used our new Dimensional Element Monograms. I inked up the "t" in Cocoa and matched the color on my printer when I printed out the rest of the title onto a transparency. I'm beginning to LOVE using transparencies. I don't have to cut out every letter, but I can use them almost ANYWHERE!

So does this need anything else?
